Storyline Last Friends
Following the lives of three college rugby players drafted to serve in the military during WWII. Though they believe their service will help to benefit their loved ones back home, they are unprepared for the hardships of war. Through their shared trials and sacrifices, they grow closer as friends, and hope to return together to better days. Last Friends (ラスト·フレンズ, Rasuto Furenzu) is a Japanese television drama which aired on Fuji TV at 10:00 pm every Thursday from April 10, 2008, until June 17, 2008. It stars Masami Nagasawa, Juri Ueno, Eita, Asami Mizukawa and Ryo Nishikido of japanese idol group Kanjani Eight.The special, consisting of a recap and some new additional scenes aired on June 26, 2008.
Immediately after each episode aired, a special spin-off movie centered around Takigawa Eri titled "Eri - my Love" aired on FujiTV On Demand. Although a fee is usually charged, "Eri - my Love" was provided free for one hour after Last Friends aired. The production staff for the spin-off series included the following.
Last Friends deals with issues such as domestic violence, sexless couples, and other problems that people suffer today. The youths in this drama are all suffering from different issues. They come to live together in a share house. Hair stylist assistant Michiru Aida comes across Ruka Kishimoto, her best friend in high school.
Last Friends is the third novel in Jane Gardam’s trilogy that began with Old Filth and continued with The Man in the Wooden Hat. Having read and loved both those novels, I felt pretty sure what to expect in this last book.
